5 Questions With: Chris Stringer.
Jul. 31, 2010
This weeks “5 Questions With” we ask Irish MMA fighter Chris “Menace 2 Society” Stringer 5 MMA related questions.
Q. When did you get started into mixed martial arts & why?
A. I started MMA when I was 13 (ten years ago) it was more of street fighting at the time. I started because I was crap at every sport possible & my parents always tried to get me active so I always loved martial arts when I was younger so I thought I’d give it a go, went once and the rest is history!
Q. What was your worst injury?
A. My worst injury was probably getting my nose broke when I fought Schiavo, I’d broke my nose before but this break was really bad, it shattered around the whole nose, seperated from my face and move across it. I’ve had many injuries tho, including break my hand twice, fingers, toes, ribs & foot.
Q. What was you most memorable fight and why?
A. There would be 2 experiences come to mind. My most memorable fight was probably against Tim Estes, it was a 3 round war & I’d never been 3 rounds and all of my fights had been over quite quickly (win or lose), I had lots of support and winning at home was great! Then when I fought UFC vet Rich Clementi, the crowd was a sellout & my support was unreal. The best crowd I’ve ever fought in front of, and stepping out when they where cheering & fighting that level of opponent was great!
Q. If you could fight anyone in the cage who would it be with and why?
A. I honestly don’t know who I would like to fight, ultimatly I’d like to fight in Japan for some sort of belt but wouldn’t care who it was against. At the minute I’m going to concentrate on the UK scence, take some names & get mine out there!
Q. What has been the highlight of your career?
A . The highlight of my career so far would be fighting Rich as the main event for Cage Wars Nightmare. The support from fans and the build up to the fight was great. Alot of people where there to see me lose & some to see me win, so it added drama and really had the crowd on the edge of there seats
